To mark World Mental Health Day, observed on 10 October, a gathering was held at the Mental Health Centre of JZU Dom zdravlja Jajce to highlight the importance of protecting mental health and cooperation between institutions in supporting citizens.
The event was attended by representatives of the institutions that signed the protocol at the level of the Municipality of Jajce (SSŠ „Jajce“, SŠ „Nikola Šop“, OŠ „Jajce“ Kruščica, OŠ „Braća Jezerčić“, OŠ „13. rujan“ Jajce, OŠ „Berta Kučera“ Jajce, JU Centra za socijalni rad, Općinskog suda u Jajcu and Policijske stanice Jajce). The importance of timely and coordinated cooperation among all institutions involved was emphasised, particularly in the early recognition of mental health difficulties, preventive action and ensuring appropriate professional assistance.
The timely exchange of information and coordination between the relevant services are an important part of supporting people who face mental health difficulties. Working together enables their needs to be identified in time and assistance to be provided appropriately.
Mental health is an integral part of overall health and is important for an individual's quality of life. According to the World Health Organization's definition, it involves more than the absence of illness: it is a state of well-being in which a person can fulfil their potential, cope with everyday stress, work productively and contribute to their community.
Marking this date in Jajce also highlighted the importance of togetherness, solidarity and empathy. Caring for mental health requires continuous attention from individuals and society. Understanding and accessible professional support are important for building a healthier and more responsible community.
