The Children's Healthcare Service is an organisational unit of the public healthcare institution Jajce Health Centre, dedicated to preserving and improving children's health and treating illness from birth until the completion of primary education.
The service's main aim is to monitor children's healthy growth and development, prevent illness, identify health and developmental disorders early, and ensure timely treatment and rehabilitation.
The service's work is based on the principles of preventive and curative paediatrics. Prevention is particularly important, through regular routine health checks, vaccination, parental counselling, monitoring nutrition, growth and development, and early identification of differences in a child's physical and psychological development.
The Children's Healthcare Service operates according to a predefined schedule, aiming to ensure continuous and accessible healthcare for children, preventive work and an early diagnostic approach.
The service performs the following duties: providing healthcare for preschool children up to the age of 6 and for schoolchildren attending primary school; conducting routine and follow-up examinations, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of patients; determining the need for referral for specialist consultations, hospital treatment and other forms of treatment; providing health education in its everyday work; and vaccinating children.
