Continuing medical education and counselling
How the service plans educational activities for parents and childcare and school settings.
Continuing education is part of the paediatric service's preventive work. Counselling gives parents clear, practical information about growth, development, nutrition, immunisation and common childhood health problems.
Educational activities may include short talks, written recommendations, workshops and cooperation with nurseries, schools and other institutions.
The aim is to give parents and childcare and school settings reliable information in one place, without unnecessary searching or reliance on unverified sources.
Note: this information does not replace an examination by a paediatrician when a child has significant symptoms or their general condition is deteriorating.
