Recommendations for childcare and school settings
Guidance for nurseries, schools and other settings attended by children.
Childcare and school settings play an important part in preventing infections from spreading. Regular handwashing, ventilation and promptly informing parents about symptoms help protect children.
Children with fever, vomiting, diarrhoea or significant respiratory symptoms should not attend nursery or school during the acute phase of illness.
Cooperation between parents, nursery staff, teachers and healthcare services helps create a safer environment and identify situations needing extra attention sooner.
Note: this information does not replace an examination by a paediatrician when a child has significant symptoms or their general condition is deteriorating.
